Windows Azure uses IIS7 so normal <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" redirectMode="ResponseRedirect" > <error statusCode="404" redirect="404.htm"/> </customErrors> wont work. What we have to do is to add <httpErrors errorMode="Custom"> <clear/> <error statusCode="404" path="404.htm" responseMode="Redirect"/> </httpErrors> to web.config and we are safe again.

Windows Azure not showing static content (css, js, images...)

Recently I started to port one of my Asp.Net projects to Widows Azure and the damn thing wouldnt show an kind of static content in the debug mode on local fabric. Only when I acctualy deployed the project everything seemed to be fine... After some 'soulsearching' I found out that Static Content module on my local IIS 7 was turned off for some reason.  If you are experiencing the same problem, a simple chackbox fixes the issue:

If you are trying to use ASP.NET AJAX functionality in combination with Master pages you will get a JS Error 'get_postBackElement().id' is null or not an object.'. Current workaround is quite simple. Just set ClientIDMode property of the Page to AutoID. (ClientIDMode="AutoID"). You can find more on new features here.
